Newly-elected Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday evening. He was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.Rangasamy, who had tested negative a couple of days ago for the swearing-in ceremony, was tested again after exhibiting symptoms and was diagnosed with coronavirus today.

A Health Department's spokesman in Puducherry confirmed that Rangasamy underwent an examination at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College Hospital and tested positive for the virus.

The spokesman said that Rangasamy was stable and had preferred to get treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. He left for Chennai in the evening.It should be noted that Rangasamy assumed office as the Chief Minister on Friday.
