Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday appeared in the metropolitan court here, pleaded not guilty and told the court that he will defend his allegedly defamatory statement against the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank on its post-notes ban transactions.
On his appearance in response to a summons in the defamation case, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate N B Munshi granted bail to Gandhi on furnishing Rs 15,000 bail bond. Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda stood his guarantor. Gandhi did not seek exemption from remaining present in court, which posted further hearing on September 7.
