An earthquake of 8.8 magnitude struck Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, Japan's meteorological agency said. After the earthquake, a tsunami with wave heights of 3 to 4 meters was recorded in parts of the Kamchatka region, according to Russia’s regional minister for emergency situations.
The agency stated that the quake was reported at 8:25 am and registered a preliminary magnitude of 8. It issued an advisory for a tsunami of up to 1 metre along the Pacific coast of Japan. So far no damage has been reported.
