A new lithium-sulphur battery with an ultra-high capacity could lead to drastically cheaper electric cars and grid energy storage. Researchers from Australia's Monash University claim to have created a lithium-sulfur battery that can keep smartphones charged for five days. Researchers created the battery by modifying sulphur particles which usually break when they expand and contract. They have filed a patent on the manufacturing process and Germany's Fraunhofer Institute has already made prototype cells to use in cars.
