Facebook has said it deleted nearly 220 crore fake accounts in the first three months of 2019 & about 120 crore fake accounts in the last quarter of 2018. “We estimated that 5% of monthly active accounts are fake,” Facebook added. The social media giant also revealed it deleted around 40 lakh hate speech posts in the first quarter of 2019.

Facebook also revealed that it has pulled down over 1.5 million posts promoting drugs or the sale of firearms on its platform.

In an official statement, Facebook wrote, “We want to protect & respect both expression & personal safety on Facebook. Our goal is to create a safe & welcoming community for more than 2 billion people who use Facebook around the world, across cultures & perspectives.”
